Leading design charrettes for the Calgary Green Line North LRT

Render by Urban Advantage for the City of Calgary

Access helped guide the integrated transportation planning for the City of Calgary’s three, week-long TOD charrettes for four station areas on the Green Line LRT. Access played a lead role in the process, bringing values-based dialogue to technical, engineering, design and stakeholder trade-off discussions. We facilitated interdepartmental dialogue to achieve alignment on core transportation and community building objectives, that were then translated into targeted design and engineering solutions. This work set a new agenda for the line – with a focus on creating walkable, street-oriented communities as an essential success factor for the stations.

Across the different sites, we assisted the project in delivering better community and passenger outcomes at lower cost, including refinements to station and rail tunnel positioning to improve access with lower capital investment and designing a seamless bus-rail interface that facilitated broad changes to the transit and road network to create new development opportunities and promote placemaking with activation of the street.
