Bringing form to Bus Rapid Transit in Metro Vancouver

TransLink has an ambitious plan to deliver a regional BRT network. TransLink's 10 Year Priorities identified up to 9 new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors to be built in the next decade. This is the first time that BRT will be built in the region, with the goal of bringing “an immediate benefit with new fast, frequent, and reliable rapid transit options serving much more of the region much sooner”.

There are many competing objectives and trade-offs to putting BRT into action - as there is a need to implement corridors that prioritize regional outcomes like ridership, while there is also an interest to focus on corridors that are easier to implement. The BRT Action Plan is focused on helping to clearly define BRT and prioritize corridors for investment.

Drawing on our experience helping advance TransLink's RapidBus program, Access is leading the development of the region's BRT definition and corridor prioritization process by helping articulate key objectives and outcomes and identify those corridors that best align with these; support engagement with policy/decision-makers and municipal partner staff.
