The Metrolinx Sponsor Policy & Practice Office is responsible for developing the tools and processes needed for Metrolinx Sponsors to perform their job. Metrolinx engaged project leadership support from Access to undertake an initiative to enhance the Sponsor Office tools and processes.

Working closely with the Policy & Practice Office, Access designed a work program to identify the major challenges and pain points experienced by Sponsors and the Metrolinx teams that work with Sponsors on a regular basis. Access led a series of workshops and interviews to identify challenges and develop solutions. Then, the project team revised a set of Sponsor Office tools focusing on the management of Stakeholders, Benefits and Requirements in consultation with users to meet their needs. This work resulted in not only a set of tools to help the Sponsor Office perform its duties, but also provided Metrolinx with a better understanding of the role of its Sponsor Office and how its project management practices fit in with the broader organization.

With support from Access, Metrolinx has developed a leading project sponsorship practice amongst its North American peers.
