Laying the groundwork for Toronto Pearson’s next Airport Master Plan
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is gearing up to release its next Airport Master Plan in 2027, setting the stage for the future of Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). This plan will shape the airport growth over the next 20 years and beyond. Access plays a key role in this project by offering expertise in transit network development.
The GTAA, responsible for operating Toronto Pearson International Airport on behalf of Transport Canada, must publish an Airport Master Plan every ten years. This plan outlines growth strategies for the airport’s systems, including groundside access, surface access, airside operations, and air terminal buildings. Working on the groundside access alongside prime consultant Intervistas, Access is leading the development of transit connections to the future multi-modal hub at Pearson. Our team is identifying scenarios for various transit lines and providing input for complementary transportation systems such as roads, parking, and walking/cycling facilities. Our local expertise and experience with major project delivery enables us to assess the feasibility of potential transit connections, such as the Eglinton Crosstown West LRT Airport Extension, Finch West LRT, GO Rail, Mississauga Transitway, and potential High-Speed Rail connection.
Our work will support the GTAA in advocating for future investments and preserving space for potential key transit connections as it advances capital projects.
