Surveying the Toronto BIAs to reimagine use of parking lots
The Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) is re-imagining how Toronto moves – with a goal to become the world’s best provider of sustainable parking, bike share and last mile mobility experiences for customers, partners and the City. As part of this vision, TPA wanted to better understand the value of Green P (off-street) parking lots to Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) and any potential programming and services that could be provided at Green P facilities to Better support area visitors and businesses.
Working with TPA staff, Access Planning led the BIA survey development process to solicit responses from 84 BIAs in the City of Toronto. The final survey focused on three main thematic categories:
Understanding travel behaviour of visitors to BIAs
Past and current uses of Green P lots including non-parking uses
Potential options and ideas for future uses of Green P lots
Findings from the survey will help TPA to better understand the uses and value of the Green P spaces across Toronto’s BIAs and to plan for and design complementary uses, programming and services.
