The Western portion of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) is home to five local transit agencies and is crossed by the regional GO bus and rail transit service. Each agency oversees transit in its home region, with some routes serving cross-boundary trips. Access worked with Metrolinx to identify, assess, and prioritize opportunities for cross-boundary travel among the West GTHA municipalities and between the West GTHA and the Regions of Waterloo and Guelph.

With a strong background in transit governance and cross-jurisdictional collaboration, Access was uniquely positioned to carry out this work. Our team assessed existing cross boundary-routes and collaborated with transit agencies to identify existing and future unmet transit needs, both for fixed-route services and accessible paratransit. We developed a list of potential new routes and improvements to accessible paratransit that would enhance cross-boundary transit service in the West GTHA.
